On March 7, 2023, VIAVI Solutions will showcase new Ethernet test solutions at OFC 2023 in San Diego, USA from March 7-9. OFC is the world's largest conference and exhibition for professionals in the field of optical communications and networks.
Ethernet provides throughput and scaling at an unprecedented rate. Ethernet technology also has the key characteristics of classic DWDM in areas such as data center interconnection (DCI) and ultra-long distances (eg ZR). Higher levels of testing are also required to ensure Ethernet scale and throughput, as well as service delivery and DWDM capabilities. More than ever, network architects and developers require sophisticated equipment to test high-speed Ethernet services for greater flexibility and performance.
VIAVI has expanded its presence in the Ethernet testing space with the new High-Speed Ethernet (HSE) platform. This multi-port solution complements the industry-leading physical layer test capabilities of the VIAVI ONT-800 platform. HSE provides manufacturers of integrated circuits, modules and network systems with high-speed test equipment up to 128 x 800G. It provides physical layer testing capabilities with advanced traffic shaping and analysis to troubleshoot and validate the functionality and performance of integrated circuits, pluggable interfaces, and switching and routing devices and networks.
VIAVI will also showcase the recently announced 800G Ethernet Technology Consortium (ETC) capabilities of the ONT 800G FLEX XPM module, which supports the testing needs of hyperscale enterprises, data centers and related applications. In addition to supporting 800G ETC implementation, it also provides a wide range of Forward Error Correction (FEC) stress and validation tools that are critical to ASIC, FPGA and IP implementations. VIAVI ONT 800G XPM also provides tools to test possible future IEEE 802.3df designs.

VIAVI will also introduce a new series of VIAVI Loop Adapters at OFC. The VIAVI QSFP-DD800 Loopback adapter allows network equipment vendors, IC designers, service providers, ICPs, contract manufacturers and FAE teams to design, test and manufacture Ethernet switches, routers and processors using high-speed pluggable optical devices. These adapters provide a cost effective and scalable solution for loopback and load ports up to 800Gbps compared to expensive and sensitive interchangeable optics. The adapters also support thermal simulation to test the cooling capabilities of the device architecture.
