Accelink Technology And China Unicom Research Institute Launched The First Domestic Independent Flexible Grid WSS

It is an ideal solution for the realization of "transportation capacity", among which the ROADM system is an important part of the all-optical base, which is used to realize flexible scheduling of the optical layer. With the growth of high-bandwidth and low-latency services such as AR/VR, online games, video calls, and unmanned driving, the metropolitan area edge nodes are required to be closer to users and have a larger number, and most of the traffic will flow in the metropolitan area network .

 

The domestic operators represented by China Unicom clearly pointed out that sinking WDM and ROADM technology to the metropolitan area network will be an inevitable trend. As the core optical device of the ROADM system, the WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch, wavelength selective switch), which realizes the independent controllability of key technologies and improves the cost performance, has become the two key factors for the sinking of the ROADM metropolitan area network.

 

Combined with the actual needs of industry applications, recently, Accelink Technology and China Unicom Research Institute have carried out technical research through project cooperation, overcame major technical difficulties such as LCOS chip autonomy and localization of core devices, and achieved independent research and development of key technologies and higher Localization rate, launched the first domestic independent FlexWave Single 1*9 and 1*4WSS, the key technical indicators of the product and its performance in the ROADM network have been fully verified by both parties.

Compared with Twin WSS or other high-port WSS devices, based on Single 1×9 WSS, in cooperation with passive devices (Splitter and AWG), it can achieve lower cost in lower-dimensional ROADM nodes such as metropolitan area and access networks. The Single 1x4 WSS can better replace the traditional FOADM, and realize flexible and dynamic scheduling of the edge access layer network with higher cost performance. These two types of products will be widely used in different forms of metro optical network equipment.

This product is based on the self-made domestic LCOS chip, supports flexible grid with 6.25GHz granularity (can support 37.5GHz~500GHz), all channels or ports can support 15dB dynamic attenuation range to adjust optical power, and the overall index has reached the advanced level in the industry.
