Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7 and Cat8 are all twisted pair Ethernet cables commonly used for data transmission in Ethernet networks, consisting of two or four pairs of insulated copper wires twisted together, hence the name "twisted pair". This stranded design can effectively reduce electromagnetic interference (crosstalk) between adjacent wires and improve the stability of signal transmission.
It transmits electrical signals through copper wires to realize the connection and data exchange between network devices (such as computers, switches, routers, etc.), and is one of the basic components of building a local area network (LAN).

100MHz,100Mbps
With a transmission frequency of up to 100MHz and support of 1000Mbps (Gigabit Ethernet) within 100 meters, it is an upgraded version of Cat5, with improved anti-interference capabilities, suitable for basic network cabling for ordinary homes and small offices, and lower cost.
250MHz,100Mbps
The transmission frequency is increased to 250MHz, supporting 10Gbps (10Gbps Ethernet) within 100 meters, but the transmission within 55 meters is more stable. There is a cross skeleton separating four pairs of twisted pair cables, which are better than Cat5e in terms of crosstalk and attenuation capabilities, making them suitable for enterprise office, high-definition video transmission and other scenarios with certain bandwidth requirements.


500MHz,10Gbps
Enhanced Cat6, with a transmission frequency of up to 500MHz, stable support of 10Gbps within 100 meters, and no transmission distance limit. It adopts a thicker shielding layer or an improved skeleton, which has stronger anti-interference ability and is suitable for long-distance high-speed transmission environments such as data centers and large enterprises.
600MHz,1Gbps
Transmission frequency up to 600MHz, 10Gbps within 100 meters, and 40Gbps/100Gbps over short distances (15 meters). Adopting a fully shielded (SFTP) design, each twisted pair and the whole cable have a shielding layer, which is extremely anti-interference and is used in professional fields with high requirements for network stability and speed, such as large data centers, high-end server clusters, etc., which are expensive and require dedicated connectors.


2GHz,40Gbps
Transmission frequency up to 2000MHz, can support 25Gbps/40Gbps over short distances (within 30 meters), is currently the strongest performance among twisted pair cables. It adopts a double-shielded (S/FTP) design, which can effectively resist external electromagnetic interference and internal crosstalk, and is mainly used in short-distance high-speed connections between servers and switches in data centers, high-end cloud computing nodes, and other scenarios that require ultra-high speed.

1. Anti-jamming capability ranking: Cat8 ≈ Cat7 > Cat6a > Cat6 > Cat5e
2. Cat6a and above require a shielded design (FTP/STP), and unshielded Cat6 may slow down in complex electromagnetic environments.
3. Do not blindly choose Cat7/Cat8, device interfaces (such as RJ45 vs GG45) and transmission distance limitations may lead to waste.
4. Cat6a is currently the king of cost performance, supporting 10G@100 meters, PoE power delivery, 4K/8K streaming, and only 1/3 the cost of Cat8.
5. The shielded wire (STP/FTP) must be grounded, otherwise the shielding layer will become an antenna and introduce interference!
