Recently, Japanese IT service company Fujitsu (Fujitsu) introduced its new optical transmission technology on its official website, which can achieve a data transmission rate of 1.2Tbps. The company plans to commercialize the optical transmission device in the first half of fiscal 2023 and begin making it available to customers worldwide.
Fujitsu said that this technology mainly applies three proprietary technologies developed by the company: digital coherent optical transmission technology, water cooling technology for optical transmission equipment, and the use of machine learning to optimize optical network technology.

Among them, digital coherent optical transmission technology is the key to the scheme. The combination of optical wave characteristic coherent receiving method and advanced ultra-high-speed digital signal processing can maximize the transmission performance.
At the same time, the solution uses water cooling technology for optical transmission equipment, which can reduce the power consumption to only 120mW per 1Gbp of data transmitted, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 70%.
