1. Optical fiber cable: optical fiber cable is a new generation of transmission medium. Multimode optical fiber is generally used for network connection in the same office building or relatively close area. The single-mode fiber is usually used to connect the network between office buildings or more geographically dispersed because of its higher quality and longer transmission distance. If the optical fiber cable is used as the network transmission medium, the optical transceiver and other equipment should be added, so the cost is higher and less used in general applications.
2. Twisted pair: twisted pair is a kind of flexible communication cable, including pairs of insulated copper wires. It is characterized by low price, so it is widely used, such as our common telephone line. According to the different maximum transmission rate, twisted pair can be divided into 3 types, 5 types and super 5 types. The rate of Category 3 twisted pair is 10MB / s, that of category 5 can reach 100MB / s, and that of super class 5 can reach more than 155Mb / s, which can meet the needs of future multimedia data transmission. Therefore, it is recommended to use category 5 or even category 5 twisted pair. Twisted pair can also be divided into shielded twisted pair (STP) and unshielded twisted pair (UTP). Although the speed of STP twisted pair is relatively low (only 4MB / s), its anti-interference performance is better than that of UTP twisted pair, so the price is much more expensive. This kind of twisted pair is a few yuan a meter cheaper, and the expensive one can only be bought for more than ten yuan. In contrast, UTP twisted pair price is generally about one yuan per meter, which is relatively low. In addition, the commonly used 10m and 100m unshielded twisted pair are 10Base-T and 100Base-T, which can be seen on the market. The RJ45 crystal head is used to make the joint between twisted pair and RJ45 network card. Its quality is directly related to the stability of the whole network and can not be ignored.
3. Coaxial cable: coaxial cable is a kind of transmission medium that many friends are familiar with. It is a kind of cable with central copper conductor wrapped by a layer of insulating wire. Its biggest feature is good anti-interference ability, stable transmission data, and low price, so it was once widely used, such as closed-circuit television line. However, in the past, more coaxial cables were used, mainly because of the low cost of the bus structure composed of coaxial cables. However, the damage of a single cable may lead to the paralysis of the whole network, which is also difficult to maintain, which is its biggest disadvantage. Coaxial cable in Ethernet application is mainly divided into two types: thick coaxial cable (10BASE5) and thin coaxial cable (10base2). Thick coaxial cable is not used much, but fine coaxial cable still has some market. Thin coaxial cable general market price a few yuan a meter, not too expensive. In addition, the coaxial cable is used to connect with BNC head.
