Structure
1. The diameter of RG6 inner conductor is coarser than RG59, and the thicker inner conductor is conducive to reducing the resistance loss in the process of signal transmission.
2. RG6 insulation layer is thicker than RG59, using better performance insulation materials, which can provide better insulation performance and signal transmission environment.
3. RG59 generally adopts a single layer shielding, which may be aluminum foil shielding or braided mesh shielding, and the shielding effect is relatively weak. RG6 is mostly double-shielded, and the common structure is aluminum foil and woven mesh, and the density of braided mesh is also higher, which can more effectively block external electromagnetic interference and prevent signal leakage.

Performance
1. RG59 and RG6 are both 75Ω intrinsic impedance, but RG6 pays more attention to the precise control of the characteristic impedance in the production process and material selection, which can better match the impedance with other equipment.
2. RG59 has a relatively larger signal attenuation than RG6. RG6 may only attenuate about 5dB per 100 meters when transmitting signals of the same frequency, which is more suitable for signal transmission over long distances.
3. RG59 has a relatively narrow bandwidth, which is generally suitable for signals with low transmission frequency and low bandwidth requirements, and can usually support a frequency range of about 500MHz. RG6 has a wider bandwidth and can support higher frequency signal transmission, reaching 1GHz or even higher frequency range, which can meet the bandwidth requirements of high-definition video, high-speed data and other applications with high bandwidth requirements.
Application
RG59 is often used in some video surveillance systems that do not have particularly high requirements for image quality and relatively short monitoring distances, such as small stores, simple home monitoring, etc., and can transmit analog video signals. In the cable television network, it can be used as a branch cable to connect distributors and user terminals, etc., to transmit TV signals of general quality.
RG6 is the preferred cable for high-definition cable TV and satellite TV receiving systems, which can transmit high-quality high-definition and ultra-high-definition TV signals to ensure the clarity and stability of images and sounds. In addition, it is widely used in scenarios that require high-speed data transmission such as home networks and broadband access, or professional video production, radio and television stations, etc., and can support high-speed Internet access and transmit high-quality video signals.
Cost
If there are high requirements for signal transmission quality and stability, RG6 with better materials, processes and performance is a more suitable choice. RG59 is relatively cheap due to its relatively simple structure, low material cost and manufacturing cost, and has certain advantages in some projects that are sensitive to cost and do not have high performance requirements.
Overall, RG6 cables are more suitable for the transmission of high-definition video and digital TV signals, providing better bandwidth and lower signal loss, while RG59 cables are more suitable for short-distance analog video transmission.
