OTDR Launch Cable Box

The OTDR launch cable is a specialty fiber optic jumper with a protective box. One end connects to the OTDR's test port, and the other end connects to the fiber under test. Its main function is to help the OTDR eliminate test blind spots, making the OTDR test data more accurate, especially the test results near the fiber's input end.

During OTDR testing, the emitted light pulses encounter interference signals just as they leave the port, causing inaccurate test data within the first 10-50 meters of the fiber. The Launch Cable Box acts like a buffer, allowing the light pulses to stabilize within this dedicated cable before entering the fiber under test, thereby making the full-length fiber test data more accurate.
